2005-2018 Volkswagen Beetle, Jetta Aftermarket Brake PartsPosted on: August 30, 2020, by : Rakesh Sashmal
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 2,400 model-year 2005-18 Volkswagen Jetta sedans, model-year 2007-10 Jetta GLI sedans and model-year 2012-17 Beetle hatchbacks equipped with Motor Parts of America Duralast brake master cylinders sold as aftermarket replacement parts
The Problem: The crimping of the aluminum housing may be insufficient, allowing the master cylinder piston to pop out of the housing, damaging the engine and increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: MPA will notify owners, directing them to take the component to an AutoZone store to return the recalled master cylinder for a full refund.
What Owners Should Do: MPA did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule but did say that exchanges for replacement cylinders can occur after Oct. 1. Owners can call MPA at 833-758-0239 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
