2020 BENELLI 302R ANNOUNCED FOR ASIAN MARKETS

The new 2020 Benelli 302R has gone live on the firm’s Chinese website with a 32,800 Yuan (£3,661) price tag.

The bike has even been gifted some retro paint job schemes, making it look very reminiscent of the big-bore Benelli sports bikes of the late-1990s and mid-2000s. It’s not just the paint that is giving us flashbacks, the styling too seems to echo the design of Benelli’s Tre Tornado, discontinued in 2014.

Styling aside, the bike is powered by a parallel twin-cylinder, 300cc, liquid-cooled engine. It makes a claimed 34bhp and 27Nm (20lb-ft) of peak torque at 9,000rpm. Indian motorcycle website, BikeWale claims the new machine will have a top speed of around 105mph.

Chassis-wise, the 302R is equipped with wavy discs and four pot calipers at the front and a single rotor at the back. Rider assistance comes in the form of two-channel ABS. The suspension system is a fairly budget looking set of USD forks at the front and a mono-shock at the rear. It’s also reported that the diminutive 302R will top the scales at a whopping 204kg – that’s the same as an R1M! Safe to say that the outright performance of the bike is not going to be as stellar as the Benellis of old then…

The 2020 Benelli 302R is currently available in China while its Indian launch details are yet to be announced. We can’t currently confirm if the bike will make it to the UK or Europe – although with lighter and better spec’d options from Yamaha (R3) and Kawasaki (Ninja 400), that’s probably not a bad thing!
