Understanding Fuel Air Separation Systems

Like any other equipment and machinery, gas and diesel-powered engines need to be regularly inspected and maintained for efficiency and safety. The Importance of Clean Diesel Fuel

An often overlooked factor when deciding to upgrade a truck’s engine is the idea of clean fuel delivery. Fuel by its very nature produces air bubbles and vapors as a result of its movement inside the engine when the truck is in motion. When this occurs, a myriad of problems can arise, including poor horsepower and fuel mileage, smoke and fuel emanating from the tailpipe, rough running and stalling engines, and even engines that are difficult or unable to turn over. While it is impossible to stop the sloshing of gas inside a moving vehicle, air and vapor can be removed utilizing a fuel-air separation system (fass).

The FASS System

When fuel enters the fuel-air separation system, water and water bubbles are removed first. The fuel moves to another chamber and becomes pressurized. Remaining dirt and other particles are removed next, leaving behind pure, pressurized fuel that is ready to be pumped through the truck’s engine. With all foreign particles removed, fuel enters the injector and is dispersed evenly throughout the engine. This even flow allows the injector timing to remain constant, which ensures the engine will continue to run properly and efficiently.
