Siliguri: A rally was organised by the district police of Alipurduar to spread awareness on ‘Safe Drive Save Life.’ The police team as well as many teachers, along with their students from different schools participated in the rally at Beerpara. Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee during her recent visit to Siliguri had stressed on the need of ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ campaigns. Different awareness programmes have been taken up at different places. The bikers and scooty riders without helmets were offered chocolates and sweets by the participants of the rally.
“We are trying to help people by participating in this rally, which is an awareness program on Safe Drive and Save Life so that people abide by the traffic rules for their own safety. We are making non-violent and palatable efforts to explain people the importance of life. We will be having more awareness programmes and would really appreciate if people join us,” said a participant of the rally. The Chief Minister’s decision about such awareness programmes is supported by many which could be seen in the turn out of these rallies.
